About Albuquerque Leather
Daddys
About
Albuquerque Leather Daddys is an informal group of men who share
friendship and an affinity for the Leather BDSM lifestyle.
We are men from all walks of life, and as such, we place the
confidentiality of our group and our event guests as one of our
priorities. We hold various events throughout the year, some private
by invitation only, some open to the public. We hold fund-raisers for
our chosen charities. When we have private or public events, in our
group, and in our events, we hold to the ideals of fraternity, respect,
trust, service to the community and confidentiality of our members
and members of the public who attend any of our events. We expect
guests at our events to hold to these ideals out of respect for our
ideals and goals, for the Daddys as a group, for our host facility,
wherever it may be, and for our guests who attend our events.
We represent and promote the Leather, Kink, Fetish, BDSM
community and lifestyle with dignity and respect, in and around the
Albuquerque, New Mexico area. We welcome all ages (18 or older),
races, colors, body styles, religions, all experience levels.
Missions / Purpose
Missions of the Albuquerque Leather Daddys are fellowship,
education, community, and service.
Fellowship
Albuquerque Leather Daddys provides a social environment of
support and fraternity by hosting events around the Leather, Kink,
Fetish, and BDSM community which provide connection and social
intimacy. Events that bring together old and new friends include
mixers, munches, entertainment, training, and contests where
individuals can meet, talk, exchange ideas and feelings, and socialize
in a supportive environment. We encourage honorable, ethical, and
dignified behavior, and inclusion. We agree to leave bad moods
outside and have gatherings that are fun, peaceful, joyful, light-
hearted, and diverse.
Education
Albuquerque Leather Daddys provides education and training to our
membership and community about our focus on a safe, sane, and
consensual environment and lifestyle. Various events for the curious
to experienced are held to convey knowledge about this lifestyle.
Community
Albuquerque Leather Daddys provides support and service to our
membership and related organizations in our region and beyond that
focus on Leather, Kink, Fetish, BDSM, and the LGBTQ community. We
wish to create understanding and support between the members of
the broader Leather, Kink, Fetish, and BDSM community and
organizations.
Service
Albuquerque Leather Daddys provides service to our community and
charitable organizations through fund-raising events and
volunteering.
History
History of the Leather Daddys starts
with its predecessor group, New
Mexico Leather Wolves. This
group existed from about 2004-
2008. It was founded by a number
of men including Wes Lockwood,
Major, Dennis Schoeckel, Glen
Wade, Ruben Gallegos, and Scott
Smith. Entertainment in the form
of charity shows were one of its
primary public activities. This
group eventually disbanded.
Some members of this group continued to
perform successful charity shows and other events in the community.
People asked the name of the organization producing these shows,
and the membership decided to form the Albuquerque Leather
Daddys in 2009. Founding members included Matt Christian, Dupree
Charlie, Ruben Gallegos, Rex Swanda, Ken Chavez, Martin Clark, John
Skelton, Charles Ceigh, Major, Dennis Schmoeckel, Glen Wade, and
Cory Gaeth.
Albuquerque Leather Daddys logo was created on 10 February 2011,
signed by “D. Dupree Charley.” Through this time, the Daddys
primary public meeting place was “The Ranch” which changed
ownership and was renamed “Sidewinders.” At that time the Daddys
had a separate internal Leather Bar within this establishment that
included a full bar and leather-themed murals and pictures on the
walls. Various changes in ownership there diminished leather
community involvement in that bar, which took a turn for the better
more recently when ownership transferred to Michael Estacio-
Burdick and Renato (Renèe) Estacio-Burdick.
Continuing to produce shows for the community and charity, about
2013, the Leather Daddys established Gear Night, held at Sidewinders
Bar as a more regular leather community event. A Facebook page
was established. Daddys also established “Leather Curious” nights to
help those new or curious about the leather scene to learn skills
where those with knowledge and skills could also pass down
knowledge to future generations. In 2017, the Munch Meet & Greet
was revitalized by SIR Magnum as another way to outreach to a
broader segment of the leather community and a website was
established.
